2017 School Captains are OSCAR & AVA
It’s your School Captains speaking, Oscar and Ava. This year has been a great year and we’ve gotten right into it. Some of the things we have done this year are a music performance. Oscar was on the drums, Ava singing. We did this performance as a welcome to everyone but especially we did it for the new Foundation kids and their families.
We also have organised a teacher hunt around the school. This was done in Care Groups, where we are in groups with kids of all ages. It helps us make new friends and get to know kids from all over the school.
On ANZAC day we ran a special service to honour our soldiers and those that served and are still serving our country. Each class did a special presentation, looking at significant aspects of ANZAC day. We ended the service by saying Lest We Forget.
James Merlino our Local Member of Parliament came to our school and we showed him around. He came to our school to make a special announcement. He announced that we had won a grant of $200000 to put in a new amazing playground.
The life Cykel group came to our school to interview us about a sustainable way to grow produce using old coffee grounds. Now every classroom is growing mushrooms. This interview will be broadcast on TV on Landline on the 14th of May.
We ran a fundraiser to raise money for Story Dogs. Everyone came dressed in orange and brought a gold coin donation. The Story Dogs are dogs that come to our school to listen to kids read. This is all on a volunteer bases so we raised money to help continue this great program.
We hope to run lots of events with our peers over the year and finish our last year off with a bang.
